From San Patrignano to the UN to follow a school for diplomacy

Ten young children who grew up in San Patrignano are traveling to New York to participate in the “Change the World Model United Nations”. It will be a memorable experience for the kids of San Patrignano children of educators and volunteers, from Friday, 20 to Thursday, 26 of March they will take part in the most important and prestigious simulation that mimics the mechanism and dynamics of the operation of the main committees of the United Nations.

They will be part of the 1,500 young people from 25 different countries that will simulate real sessions of the United Nations. Organized by the association of Diplomats, it is a veritable training school for students, school and university teachers and young professionals. An incredible experience for the children from the Community made possible for the second consecutive year by Friends of San Patrignano and the Association of Diplomats itself.

The main theme of this year’s conference will be “Human rights, water resources, energy and food security” in relation to the topics covered in the next Expo 2015. The children of San Patrignano, divided into pairs, will represent the state of Cuba in the various committees. Each has studied the country extensively so as to be able to represent them when talking about the specific topics that will be addressed in the committees to which they were included. At the end, just as the UN works, each delegate will have to read their position paper to express his country’s position on the given topic. A task accepted with enthusiasm by the children involved in New York they will be able to confront in an international context in which helps to develop a knowledge of multilateral diplomacy and enhance negotiation skills, problem solving and positive leadership.
