Beyond the finish line – NY Marathon

This is what “Beyond the finish line”San Patrignano’s sproject – is all about. An exciting and complex challenge considering that most of San Patrignano’s runners are tackling a sports competition
of this level for the first time
.
Training for the race began in February under the expert guidance of the world famous sports coach Dr. Gabriele Rosa. The fitness level of each San Patrignano runner has been analyzed and each one given a special training program he or she had to follow in order to reach the competition in New York in their best possible condition.

Dr. Rosa was introduced to the community by Letizia Moratti, ambassador of San Patrignano . Starting off as a cardiologist and opening the first center of sports medicine in Italy, Rosa is one of the biggest talent scouts in the field of athletics and seen by many as the world’s greatest marathon coach . He has spent much of his life in Kenya, Ethiopia and most recently China in order to discover promising athletes that could one day break records and make history.

His team Rosa Associati have 9 of the 20 best all-time performances in the category men’s full marathon and, between the New York, Boston and Chicago marathons, achieved a total of 43 victories in World Marathon Majors.
Moreover, Rosa has guided his team in winning a total of 19 world titles, 3 Olympic gold medals, 5 Olympic silver medals, and 6 Olympic bronze medals.
The Italian doctor has trained some of the most famous marathon runners in the world including Paul Tergat, Martin Lel, Robert Cheruiyot, Margaret Okayo, Samuel Wanjiru, who won the Olympic marathon in Beijing in 2008.
Running is a wonderful metaphor for San Patrignano, where the journey requires incredible effort, but gives you enormous satisfaction when overcoming personal limits and difficulties. It has also been one of the most popular sports in the community. Educational activity and rehabilitation need these disciplines too, because they are a key tool for transmitting important life values.

“Beyond the finish line” is also made possible thanks to the contribution and support of the following companies: Cimberio, Carim, Italstudio, Rosa Associati e Kappa.
