Experiential learning labs for social workers, social practitioners working on addiction, researchers and NGO interested in getting to know the rehabilitation and social reinsertion model of the biggest community in Europe.
San Patrignano, the world’s largest residential treatment center, has been working for the last thirty five years for the full recovery of those suffering from drug addiction. Offering a program of rehabilitation, skills training and full social reintegration completely free of charge, the community has given a new chance to more than 25,000 young people, with an independently verified drug free success rate of over 70%. Currently San Patrignano is home to roughly 1300 residents, the average age of which is dropping year by year.
Aim of the workshop:
San Patrignano welcomes NGOs, government delegates, academia, social workers, students, professionals and individuals interested in deepen their knowledge on drug rehabilitation and social integration, studying our model and educative approach. The workshop has been developed to respond to the large request of visits and internship in San Patrignano, to share our expertise and offer a unique experience of community. The international staff in cooperation with Bologna University created the format based on visits and stage of government and civil society delegations from around the world in the latest years.

Duration: 7 days (Saturday to Friday)
The course will take place from Saturday to Friday. Please make the necessary travel arrangement to be able to arrive on Friday, the previous weekend and leave the following weekend.
Fees: 1150 euro (The fees include : lectures, learning material, accommodation and meals full board for the duration of the course)
Accommodation
In Botticella, cosy satellite community in the Novafeltria hills.
The accommodation will be into 2 to 4 beds bedrooms, to experience firsthand a true community lifestyle.
Preliminary Program
The participants will have a full experience of the community, having lectures in the morning and interactive workshops in the afternoon in the vocational trainings with the guys in the recovery program.
Make the necessary arrangement in order to arrive on Friday 3 July, between 4 and 7 pm: pick- ups at Rimini Railway Station and Transfer to Botticella. Overnight in Botticella
Day 1 – Saturday in Botticella
Welcome meeting and getting together for the participants.
Afternoon, visit to Botticella and free time to rest.
Day 2 – Sunday in Botticella
Preliminary contacts and admission process in the community, the preliminary work.
Lectures:
• Drug related diseases and initial check-up.
• Introduction to the community program.
Lunch
Lectures:
• The role and dynamics of the admission: assessment of the motivational elements.
• Getting prepared to the admission. Dinner in Botticella
Day 3 – Monday in SP, Rimini:
Transfer from Botticella to Rimini
• Visit of the SanPatrignano Premises, preliminary tour of the community.
Lunch
• After lunch the visit continues and introduction to the experiential learning labs until 4.30pm
• Transfer back to Botticella for dinner and community activities.
Day 4 – Tuesday in SP, Rimini:
Transfer from Botticella to Rimini
Lectures:
• Job training, Sport and leisure time: nurturing each one talent. The complex process of recovery through the range of activities engaging to the residents.
• Special needs for special groups. Addressing age, gender and parenting issues.
Lunch
• Afternoon: experiential learning labs in assigned vocational training workshops.
Transfer back to Botticella for dinner
Day 5 – Wednesday in SP, Rimini:
Transfer from Botticella to Rimini
Lectures:
• Legal Issues: drug related crimes and alternative sentencing.
• Replicability of the model.
Lunch
• Afternoon: experiential learning labs in assigned vocational training workshops.
Dinner at Sp.accio and transfer back to Botticella after dinner
Day 6 – Thursday in SP, Rimini
Transfer from Botticella to Rimini
Lectures: (at 10.30)
• Organization and structure Lunch
• Afternoon: experiential learning labs in assigned vocational training workshops. Transfer back to Botticella for dinner
Day 7 – Friday in Botticella
• Wrap up and farewell lunch
• Afternoon: get prepared for the departure (the same day or the following day, Saturday, in the morning)
