Major awards for the San Patrignano cantina

AVI 2011 was awarded Tre Bicchieri (three glasses) in the Gambero Rosso Italian Wine Guide. A prestigious award for the sangiovese from the cellar of San Patrignano which the community has chosen to devote to Vincenzo Muccioli, founder of community itself.

A recognition that primarily goes to the residents of San Patrignano who with great passion made every effort possible during the harvest. “It is without a doubt the result of their endeavors,” explains Roberto Dragoni, in charge of the wine cellar with Giuseppe Giannasi –. “2011 was a incredible harvest with a great grapes, and it’s a pleasure to see our sector and the whole community involved awarded for their hard work”.

Another detail of this wine, is a label designed by a different artist every year, in this case of this year from the artist Pino Pinelli, which enhances the bottle even more.

“2011 was definitely a good year – explains the oenologist of the winery Angelo Totaro – The weather patterns, during that summer, were characterized by low rainfall and high temperatures, good conditions for ripening and of a quality grape. The collecting of the 2011 Sangiovese were slightly ahead of 2010 and with a favoured alcohol content, great acidity and perfect phenolic aging”.

A wine that seems to have grown a lot over the years: “this wine has improved dramatically since 2007, when we chose to refine it in casks of 30 hectolitres which gave it a greater character and uniqueness. In addition to this the vines have several years of life now and the product now enjoys a certain stability and quality ».

This is not however the only recognition. The San Patrignano cantina has obtained for the second consecutive year 3 stars, given by the Guida Essenziale to the wines of Italy 2016.
